YouTube Introducing a New Button for Playing Random Videos

Sometimes, finding a video to watch on YouTube can be time-consuming, especially when your meal is getting cold. To simplify this decision-making process, YouTube is in the works to introduce a new button that offers video randomization. This enigmatic button is set to appear in the center of your YouTube feed and will play a Shorts video randomly, based on your preferences. Several users have already noticed this feature in the YouTube Android app.

This isn’t the first time such a feature has been observed. Back in May, a Reddit user reported the presence of this button, indicating that YouTube has been testing it for a while. Additionally, there will be another black button in the bottom right corner of the feed, serving the same purpose. As mentioned earlier, these randomize buttons are likely being tested simultaneously, even though they surfaced at different times for different users.

Details about this button are limited at the moment, as YouTube has yet to make an official announcement. However, it is evident that the button is designed to curate content based on your watch history, subscribed channels, liked videos, and other user-specific factors. As this button is only available to a select group of users, it has not been officially integrated into YouTube’s experiments. The experimentation phase allows users to try out new features before they are released to the wider public. It is expected that YouTube will officially acknowledge this feature soon, at which point more information will be made available.
